Isn’t that the best, though? I mean, Varric has this char w/ an AWESOME backstory: a lost throne, crisis of faith, blood magic… and yet he DESPISES Seb. He’s the only companion Varric is ever outright mean to. That’s important!

Very true—you can make yourself nuts wondering what isn’t trustworthy in an unreliable narrator story! But IMO, that one line just seems so… out of place, like he’s trying TOO hard. I think Varric’s banter w/Seb is probably closer to the truth.
